Mission Statement

Mi Casa Charities is a non-profit humanitarian organization which strives to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families & communities by eliminating barriers to opportunity through financial generosity and volunteer commitment in partnership with the people in need.

Hi, my name is Hilda Bleiweiss and I am not a corporate philanthropist, a professional fund-raiser or a charity consultant. I am a regular, everyday person recently retired from the hectic world of Corporate America who took one trip to visit the forgotten people of La Chureca which forever changed my life.

During my first trip to Nicaragua in the summer of May 2008 to do volunteer work along with my niece, Jillian Lozada, as part of a student run organization within the University of Florida, I was not prepared for what I saw. Children and their families living in severe extreme poverty! It forced me to realize how blessed I have been in all aspects of my life. That was the year my heart and soul was committed to making a difference no matter how small. 

With the help of my wonderful family and friends I decided to start this foundation to raise awareness and join in the worldwide efforts to help those in need whether here in my own community, in another neighboring state or on the other side of the world. Charity begins at home, and hence the name of this organization was born, Mi Casa Charities!
